Why do people take/make photographs?
People take photos to capture life moments. Moments of fun, happiness, sadness, hurt, etc... Many people want these moments to last, to remember them or for them to be recognised by others
Why is photography important?
Photography is important as it allows a range of perspectives to be shown, as well as it conveys messages and feelings through the visual perspective
How many Different types of photography can you think of?
Types of photography I can think of:
- Documentary - refers to a form of photography used to chronicle events or environments both significant and relevant to history and historical events as well as everyday life
- Portrait - a photograph of a person or group of people that captures the personality of the subject by using effective lighting, backdrops, and poses
- Landscape - photographs which typically capture the presence of nature but can also focus on man-made features or disturbances of landscape
- Street - Photography conducted for art or enquiry that features unmediated chance encounters and random incidents within public places
- Fashion\Paparazzi - generally photography which is devoted to displaying clothing, other fashion items, or people/models
- Wildlife - photography which is a wide range of photography taken outdoors and devoted to displaying natural elements
What skills do you need to become a good photographer?
You need a range of skills to be a good photography and in my opinion some main skills would including been open minded, willing to experiment/do something you wouldn't usually do, and be imaginative
How does photography help us see the world?
Photography helps us see the world as we can see and obtain a visual image of a situation from across the world without actually having to be there. It gives us views and perspectives from different time, places and people
What are the similarities and differences between photography and other types of visual art?
Similarities:
Differences:
- Both can be used as a way of expressing personal feelings/thoughts
- Both can make us question/think
- Both can be used to convey a message or statement
Differences:
- They are generally created using different forms of media and tools
- They are usually visually different as they have be produced with different materials
When is it not okay not to take a photograph?
People take photographs in all situations from holidays to deaths, and I think a photography should use there instincts to make a inform decision from the situations around them to see whether it would be okay to take a photography or not, as well as asking for permission when taking photos of people
How do you know whether you have taken a good photograph?
I believe that you have taken a 'good' photography when you have met your own individual standard and you feel a sense of pleasure or accomplishment with what you have created/captured
Are photographers also artist?
For me I believe photographers are also artists as photographs are a form of art
Where is the best place to see photography?
You can essentially see photographs anywhere, you can see them online or galleries are usually a good place to explore a range of photographs
What kind of photography interests you most?
I tend to enjoying viewing landscape/nature photographs as they show me different places around the world and I find it fascinating seeing see different places in different peoples perspectives
What confuses or frustrates you about photography?
It can frustrate me when coming up with new ideas to photograph and when i imagine this imagine in my head but when i go to take the photograph it doesn't look as good as it did in my mind
Can photography be trusted?
I think not all photographic images can be trusted as they could have been quite drastically edited using photoshop. So when looking at photographs we can't instantly just believe everything we see
